Hiring Director of FIRST Robotics Competition
The Director of FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) at FIRST Chesapeake will play a critical role in supporting FRC teams, mentors, and volunteers to plan and execute FIRST Chesapeake FRC competitions.
We are thrilled to announce that Shelly Stoddard will be serving FIRST Chesapeake as our new Director of FIRST Tech Challenge. With her extensive teaching experience, project management skills, and dedication to client-centered service, Shelly is the perfect fit to lead FTC to new heights in Chesapeake.
Shelly’s journey with FIRST Chesapeake began in 2017 when she attended a summer program with her daughter in the FIRST Chesapeake region. Inspired by the experience, she became deeply involved as a volunteer, mentor, coach, and trainer. Over the years, Shelly played a crucial role in planning and launching competitions, scrimmages, and outreach events for Team #4924. Her passion for inspiring young minds and training adults to support students in STEM fields made her an invaluable asset to the FIRST community.
Throughout her impressive 20+ year educational and entrepreneurial career, Shelly has successfully initiated, managed, and grown numerous projects. From launching district-wide educational programs to pioneering online teaching and language immersion initiatives, her track record of innovation and success is unparalleled.
What sets Shelly apart is her ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, always striving to help them reach their full potential. As the Project Coordinator at FIRST Chesapeake, Shelly has already applied her problem-solving expertise and organizational prowess to advance important programs, including Women in STEM and the FIRST Ambassador program.
Shelly’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of students and educators goes a step above. Her passion and dedication to the mission of FIRST Chesapeake make her a valuable addition to our team. We are excited to welcome her into her new role and look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring.
In an effort to be more in touch with the teams, Shelly will be hosting weekly office hours for FTC teams and coaches to connect, share, and listen. Office hours will be Wednesdays from 4 to 6pm via appointment and Fridays from 11am to 1pm via drop-in. Office hours will begin the week of August 21, 2023.
