Are you ready to make a lasting impact on the future of STEM education and inspire the innovators of tomorrow? FIRST Chesapeake invites you to play a pivotal role in the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) season by hosting a district event. The heart of the FRC season lies in the dedication of our host venues and volunteers, and we’re excited to collaborate with schools and teams in the Chesapeake region for another unforgettable year of competition.
Hosting an FRC event is not just about providing a space; it’s about fostering a community of learning, collaboration, and excitement. By opening your doors to FRC teams and supporters, you become a catalyst for change, empowering young minds to explore the limitless possibilities of STEM.
To ensure the success of these district events every venue will need to accommodate:
Playing Field Area: Provide a spacious playing field area measuring at least 80 ft x 100 ft, with a ceiling height of 25+ feet.
Pit Area: Provide a minimum of 6,000 sq. ft. of pit area with easy access to the playing field, ideally on the same level.
Bleacher Seating: Accommodate a minimum of 1,000 attendees with comfortable and convenient bleacher seating adjacent to the playing field area.
Wired Internet: Ensure wired internet availability for real-time scoring, streaming, and connectivity needs.
Electrical Infrastructure: Have 3 dedicated 20-amp circuits for the field and 6 for the pits to power the robotic action.
Load-In/Load-Out Access: A double-width door with no or removable stanchion to facilitate easy equipment transfer
Parking: Offer ample parking space for cars, buses, and trailers to accommodate all attendees.
Hotels: Ensure that hotels are in close proximity to accommodate traveling teams and volunteers.
Floor Covering: Make floor covering available where required to protect your venue.
Volunteer Base: Have access to a strong volunteer base within your team or host venue to support event logistics.
Venue Availability: Be able to provide full use of the gym and other required areas from early Friday until Sunday night.
These are the essential requirements for hosting a successful FRC event, but we appreciate additional support factors such as set-up and tear-down assistance, concessions, support from school administration, and space for shipping containers or tractor-trailers.
Please submit your application indicating your willingness and ability to host and specify your preferred date for the event (1st and 2nd choice). We can’t wait to embark on this exciting journey with you, making a difference in the lives of countless young innovators.
