Coaches

Be sure to bring a paper copy of your roster to your event to turn into pit admin. Paper rosters can be printed from your Dashboard at FIRST Inspires. Your roster should have a green checkmark next to every team member AND coach/mentor.

This indicates that all people associated with the team have signed a Consent and Release form. You may not compete without Consent and Release forms on file.

In an effort to reduce paper and potential data risks, FIRST Inspires encourages teams to use these resources to register their children and sign the Consent and Release.

Q & A Forum

If you have not already, make sure you check out and review the questions and answers on the FIRST Robotics Competition Official Q&A Forum. More questions and answers are added weekly.

Student Ambassadors

Be a Student Ambassador to help welcome visitors to the 2024 FIRST Chesapeake District Championship. Teams are welcome to invite current and future supporters of their teams.

We are recruiting students who can volunteer for three or more 2-hour shifts on Thursday, April 4, Friday, April 5, and/or Saturday, April 6, 2024, to greet visitors at the Welcome Table, give a behind-the-scenes tour, and connect visitors with teams.

We can schedule around Awards interviews but cannot take students on the Drive team. We welcome both experienced and new Student Ambassadors.

Alumni Choice Award

We are excited this year to include a special community award at the Chesapeake Championship, The Alumni Choice Award. This is a team participation award, and your alumni are the judges.
How it Works
  • Before the event, FIRST teams reach out to their alumni and invite them to attend the Chesapeake District Championship.
  • When they arrive, alumni will check in at a station adjacent to Pit Administration where they will be asked to join or show current participation in the local Alumni Network.
  • Alumni will receive a heart ballot that they can give to any team in the pit as a vote for that team.
  • Teams receiving hearts will be asked to display their hearts in their pit, showing the love that FIRST Alumni have for their team.
  • During the awards ceremony, the winning team will be announced and the team and their alumni will be asked to go through the high-five line and receive the Alumni Choice Award trophy.
  • Votes may only be cast by FIRST Alumni and Alumni may only vote once. Students who are actively competing at an event or an upcoming event are NOT yet FIRST Alumni and are NOT allowed to Vote.
So, dig out those old team rosters and invite your FIRST Alumni back to support your team once again.

FIRST® LEGO® League guides youth through STEM learning and exploration at an early age. From Discover, to Explore, and then to Challenge, students will understand the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way.

For Volunteers

Empower the next generation of changemakers and innovators.

FIRST® volunteers are part of a global robotics community preparing young people for the future. Even if you only have a few hours to give, your contribution can make a difference. Working side by side with FIRST participants, volunteers play an important role in shaping young minds and inspiring students to achieve.

Volunteer roles range from safety attendants and field reset to judges, emcees, and referees. Volunteering at an event is a great way to share technical or professional knowledge, but you do not need special skills or expertise to volunteer.

For Attendees

All FIRST Chesapeake competitions, qualifiers, and championships are free and open to the public.

If you would like to, you can RSVP below.

As we work as a community to prepare young people for a STEM future, FIRST aims to ensure its programs have a lasting, positive impact on all participants.

Join us in our mission to empower the young minds of DC, MD, and VA. Together, we can spark innovation, foster diversity, and make the impossible possible. Your support is not just a donation; it’s an investment in the future.

Together, let’s build a brighter, more innovative future.
