Welcome Alex Bryant as the New Executive Director

Alex Bryant It is with great enthusiasm that we announce Alex Bryant as the new Executive Director of FIRST Chesapeake, effective August 1st.  He has been a critical part of the transformative leadership this past season and will be succeeding Scott Turnbull.

With his experience and passion, we have no doubt that Alex will build upon the remarkable achievements of this year, propelling us towards even greater heights in the coming season,” stated Cristie Neller, President of the FIRST Chesapeake Board.

Alex’s dynamic career across various organizations has equipped him with the breadth of experience required for this role. As the Director of Programs at FIRST Chesapeake in the previous season, Alex effectively propelled our organization to new heights. His distinctive skills, firsthand experience with FIRST Chesapeake, and his seasoned leadership in the non-profit sector make him an ideal fit for this leadership position.

Before his time at FIRST Chesapeake, Alex held critical leadership positions at both the IX Art Park Foundation and Tom Tom Foundation. As Executive Director for IX Art Park, Alex demonstrated exceptional prowess in strategic messaging, marketing, and community engagement. His skillset extends to the establishment of robust organizational strategies, board management, and the cultivation of diverse funding sources. At Tom Tom Foundation, his executive responsibilities included managing annual operations plans, human resources, and advisory board coordination.

As Alex assumes his new role, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Scott Turnbull for his talented stewardship of FIRST Chesapeake.

Cristie Neller named Board President

We are excited to announce that Cristie D. Neller has been appointed as the new Board President of FIRST Chesapeake, effective July 1st. Cristie, a long-standing supporter and valuable member of our board, steps into this position following the dedicated service of Dean Roberts, who has been a stalwart of FIRST Chesapeake as our Board President for the past several years.

Cristie’s multifaceted experience and passion for our mission makes her an ideal choice for this role. Currently serving as the Vice President of Administrative Services for Berkshire Hathaway Energy Gas Transmission & Storage, Cristie has a long track record of executive leadership in Operations, Engineering, Construction and Corporate Services roles for Fortune 500 companies. Given her commitment to servant leadership coupled with her academic credentials as a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the College of William and Mary, we are confident that Cristie’s leadership along with our exceptional dedicated board will usher in a new era of success for FIRST Chesapeake

In assuming her new role, Cristie succeeds Dean Roberts, whose leadership has been instrumental in guiding FIRST Chesapeake, particularly through the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. Dean’s contributions have laid a strong foundation for the organization’s future, and we owe him our deepest gratitude for his unwavering commitment to FIRST Chesapeake.
