FIRST Chesapeake Community Engagement and Volunteer Manager for Metro Richmond

FIRST Chesapeake Robotics, a 17 year-old education-based non-profit, is seeking part-time contracted Community Engagement and Volunteer Management position. This position requires approximately 25 hours per week. Some weekend work may be required. Hours are flexible and FIRST Chesapeake is willing to allow the right candidate to perform all administrative work from home. This position is for 12 months, with paid sick leave and a very generous holiday/vacation schedule. The position reports directly to the Programs Director. Requirements:

  • self-starter possessing excellent time management and communication skills
  • familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • ability to work with a variety of different personalities and age groups
  • familiarity with FIRST programs preferred but not required
  • experience working with community-based and volunteer organizations-ideally, corporate volunteer programs.
  • access to own transportation

FIRST Chesapeake Robotics Internship Available

FIRST Chesapeake Robotics, a 17 year-old education-based non-profit, is seeking part-time interns to work with specific middle school FIRST Robotics teams in Richmond City. This position requires approximately 2 hours of afternoon on-site classroom instruction per week. Additional hours are flexible and will be used for lesson prep and other duties as assigned. FIRST Chesapeake is willing to coordinate these hours with university career services for possible internship credit for the 2017 Fall semester. The position reports directly to the Sustainability Project Director.

Paid and Unpaid Internship Opportunities Available:

Paid Internship: Stipend amount of $10/hr, not to exceed 5 hours/week. Contracted position for October - December with the possibility of the position being extended to June. (3 available positions)

Unpaid Internship: Potential to earn college credit! Position offers schedule flexibility (Non-contracted).

Requirements:

  • self-starter
  • excellent time management skills
  • familiarity with FIRST programs and technical experience preferred but not required
  • experience working with teens/adolescents and/or under-resourced communities
  • access to own transportation or reliable source of transportation
