Dear FIRST Family…
As we prepare for the upcoming FIRST Chesapeake FRC and VirginiaFIRST FTC seasons, we are excited to provide a number of exciting updates.
Denise Lewis has accepted the FIRST Chesapeake FRC East Program Director role. Denise has over 10 years of experience working with FIRST and supporting teams as a coach/mentor and most recently as the FIRST Regional Director for Washington, D.C. Denise will provide teams with strong advocacy, support and growth assistance. Teams that will have Denise as their Program Director will be notified upon the upcoming hire of the FRC West Program Manager. Denise transitions to the FRC East Program Manager role as of July 1, 2016 and will be based out of the Washington, D.C. area.
We are still working through final candidates for the FIRST Chesapeake West Program Director role. We anticipate this role will be filled and announced prior to the end of July.
Dee Tomczak has accepted the Director of Community Engagement position. Dee has a long and exceptional history with FIRST on the team level, event management and as the former Assistant Director of VirginiaFIRST. Dee will now have overall responsibility for volunteer recruitment for FIRST Chesapeake FRC/VirginiaFIRST FTC as well as assisting with the deepening of community engagement in the planning and execution of competitions/events. Dee transitions to the Director of Community Engagement role as of July 1, 2016 and will be based out of the Richmond, Virginia area.
Maureen Carley has accepted the VirginaFIRST FIRST Tech Challenge Program Director role. While new to FIRST, Maureen has substantial program management experience in the higher education and information systems fields. She also has a background in marketing, mobile technology, leadership development, mentor recruitment and the CIO community. Maureen transitions to the FTC Program Director role as of August 1, 2016 and will be based out of Richmond, Virginia.
Matt Glennon, who has served for several years as the VirginiaFIRST FTC Technical Director has offered and agreed to provide this same valued Technical support to FIRST Chesapeake FRC. Matt will work with the FTA and CSA roles to prepare and execute FIRST Chesapeake’s upcoming second FRC competition season. Matt transitions to this expanded role as of July 1, 2016 and is based in the Richmond, Virginia area.
