We are sad to report that Randolph “Randy” W. BrinkleyFIRST Robotics Competition mentor and STEM instructor for Salem High School (VA), passed away Saturday, November 13th. 
Randy served in the National Guard before earning multiple teaching degrees and becoming an educator. 
He formed the first FIRST Robotics Competition team in Botetourt County (VA), and it still exists today. This team, along with his Salem High School team, won many awards across multiple levels.
Outside of his career, Randy was an Eagle Scout and he volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. In addition he was a Mason and a Shriner who advocated heavily for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Randy never knew a stranger, and his loss will be felt by the FIRST Chesapeake community.  Our sincere condolences to his family, friends, students, and colleagues.
