 FIRST Chesapeake Productions Assistant Manager

Want to be in the middle of the action at FIRST Chesapeake robotics competitions? This could be the job for you! Stipend position. Majority of work will occur on weekends at FTC or FRC events in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Experience with AV and FIRST programs required. 

Duties:                                                        

  • Report directly to the Productions Manager
  • Maintain communication and troubleshoot with on-site FIRST Chesapeake Representative and Event Manager throughout assigned event(s)
  • Set up and troubleshoot all AV equipment on day zero of event.
  • Immediately report any AV issues to Productions Manager and on-site FIRST Chesapeake Representative
  • Ensure set up and testing of any satellite AV equipment – example Live Feed Monitors in Mentor Lounge or Volunteer Lounge, if requested.
  • Pack all materials in the appropriate crates at the close of the event/day two.
  • Ensure that all logos and sponsor recognition are displayed as prescribed at events. No logos should be moved, resized, etc. without express permission of the Executive Director.
  • Guarantee competition Live Feed begins at least 10 minutes before Drivers Meeting and ends after the last award is presented on final day of each event.
  • Ensure all AV equipment is working properly at least 30 minutes before opening ceremonies all days.
  • Must commit to 5+ events per season.
  • Duties, as needed, to support AV at additional events
  • Maintain communication through Slack with relevant staff and volunteers, September 2019-June 2020.

Compensation: Stipend $100-$350 per event. Reimbursable mileage for travel exceeding 50 miles round trip. Lodging provided, when necessary, for overnight stays.

FIRST Chesapeake has part time openings working with middle schools using the FTC platform

Description:

FIRST Chesapeake Robotics, a 19 year-old STEM education-based non-profit, is seeking part-time contractors to work with specific middle school FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Richmond City Public Schools. This position requires up to 12 hours of afternoon on-site classroom instruction per week Mon-Thurs. Additional hours are flexible and will be used for lesson prep and other duties as assigned. FIRST Chesapeake is willing to coordinate these hours with university career services for possible internship credit for the 2019-2020 academic year. The position reports directly to the Sustainability Project Manager. 

Pay scale:

Pay range is negotiable based on experience, and starts at $10.50/hr, not to exceed 12 hours/week. Contracted position for September-June with the possibility of the position being extended to the summer. (4 available positions)

Requirements:

  • Over 18 and able to pass a background check
  • self-starter
  • ability to multi-task
  • excellent time management skills
  • Familiarity with FIRST programs and some technical experience preferred, but not required.
  • Comfortable working with teens/adolescents and/or under-resourced communities
  • reliable source of transportation
